Expat Therapy Services

Have you left your home country to live abroad?

If you are a globally minded, growth-oriented individual who chose to live outside your home country in pursuit of a richer, more fulfilling life, Expat Therapy is for you. While we can change our location, our mental health remains a high priority and needs caretaking.

You did not just run from something; you are intentionally moving towards a lifestyle aligned with your values, goals, and aspirations. Folks at home may think you are running away from your problems, but you know it is time for a change. You made this move for you (and maybe your family that you created).

Whether you are a seasoned expat or embarking on your first international relocation, you approach the experience with curiosity, courage, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. I want to help you with the rollercoaster of emotions that come with relocating to a new country, learning a new language, and/or adjusting to a new culture.

You may be relocating for career opportunities, family, retirement, adventure, or a mix of all four. you have a willingness to adapt, you are open to new ideas, and your desire to thrive—not just survive—abroad.

Who is expat therapy for?

  • Women who are 18 and older who are mature, responsible, and forward-thinking. Women have a different set of needs, wants, and expectations when living abroad.
  • Your profession or student status does not matter. As a matter of fact, I want to teach you how to de-center work and create an identity that is not productivity or income-based.
  • While all nationalities can benefit from expat therapy, we live in different time zones, thus I operate a schedule based on Pacific Standard Time regardless of where I travel.
  • You can be single, partnered, or traveling with children. Let's talk about how to make new friends and build community wherever you are.
  • All sessions offered in English. All fees are collected in USD.

Are you a good fit for my therapeutic approach?

  • Yes, if these are your values: independence, personal freedom, cultural respect, continuous learning, balance, and authenticity. You must value time over money and experiences over possessions. Not there yet? Don’t worry, I can teach how to shift your thinking.
  • Yes, if this your mindset: growth-oriented, emotionally intelligent, resourceful, and proactive. You must be resilient and see challenges as opportunities for growth. Don’t consider your resilient? No worries, I can help you change the way you view yourself in your life story.
  • Yes, if these are your current motivations: a better quality of life, a slower pace, lower cost of living, better weather, new opportunities, or escape political/economic instability.
  • I want to support you as you navigate immigration bureaucracy, struggle with homesickness, encounter language barriers, resolve tax/legal confusion, engage in cultural adjustment, cope with feeling isolated, or struggle to “fit in.”

Which of these challenges do you face?

Even the most prepared expats can feel overwhelmed. Common challenges expats deal with:

  • Cultural Adjustment: You may struggle with local customs, indirect communication, or slower bureaucratic processes.
  • Bureaucracy: You experience distress with residency paperwork, tax compliance, setting up a business, and opening a bank account.
  • Identity and Belonging: Living between cultures can lead to questions of identity, especially for long-term expats or third-culture kids.
  • Emotional Rollercoasters: The excitement of a new country is often followed by loneliness, self-doubt, or burnout.
  • Financial Planning: Currency fluctuations, foreign bank fees, and managing income across borders.

Am I the therapist for you?

If you are looking for more than just technical knowledge—if you are seeking a therapist who understands the expat journey on a deeper level. I am someone who:

  • Listens deeply and empathetically
  • Has lived or worked abroad and “gets it”
  • Communicates clearly and promptly
  • Is solutions-focused but patient
  • Provides tailored, decolonized, holistic advice—no one-size-fits-all
  • Is proactive in flagging issues and anticipating needs

I go beyond the surface-level logistics and supports you in creating a life that is meaningful, sustainable, and joyful abroad.

Are you ready for your transformation?

When you first connect with me, you may feel:

  • Overwhelmed by logistics
  • Uncertain about legal, tax, or financial obligations
  • Isolated or unsure of where to build community
  • Scared of making costly mistakes
  • Torn between wanting to integrate and not wanting to lose yourself in a new country

After working together, you will start to feel:

  • Clear about your goals, timelines, and action steps
  • Confident navigating the local systems or complying with regulations
  • Grounded in your new identity as an expat
  • Empowered to create a life on your terms. As Prince said, "Make the rules, then break them all."
  • Connected—to the local culture, community, and your own sense of purpose

You Want to Live Abroad, Not Just Escape

What sets you apart from people running away from their problems is your intention. You are not relocating out of desperation or running away from problems. You are choosing to create a better life through presence, courage, and self-awareness. You are reflective, responsible, and realistic—yet also optimistic and open to possibility.

You know that changing countries doesn’t automatically change lives—it’s about how you show up in your new world. That’s why you are seeking emotional support that honors both the practical and emotional dimensions of expat life.
